Services – Structural design and detail of foundations and superstructure (Braced and fixed frame). Piled foundations and ground beams.

The project involved the design and detail of the 5-storey steel frame to provide residential accommodation in Edinburgh. To suit planning requirements, the building is stepped incorporating 3, 4 and 5-storey sections.

Due to loading and the existing ground conditions, a piled foundation solution was adopted to support reinforced ground beams. To suit the proposed elevations and window openings, a series of fixed frames were provided for stability. Where walls were continuous with no openings, braced bays were adopted.
